Curious marking behavior
During our run this morning I noticed something rather curious: near a pile of deer pellets there would be a pile of...coyote poop (I assume).
And not just this one example. I finally took a photo of this one because we'd already passed six or seven similar markings. This was more than just coincidence.
Why? I'm curious why a coyote (or fox, maybe?) would feel it was necessary to mark a pile of deer pellets.
Thankfully the girls didn't seem interested in investigating either type of calling card today. When we first moved here and started exploring the forest, they were quite interested in the many coyote piles we'd find on these dirt roads. No more. Same old same old, I guess.
