Mountain bluebells

Wildflowers seen on a walk in the forest with the girls this morning. Mountain bluebells.
Bright green and new tamarack needles providing a backdrop for pussy willows.
A snow-fed pond nestled in the trees just off the forest road and nicely tucked away from view.

Maia became very nervous here. I imagine it's a place the forest creatures know well, where they come to drink, maybe eat a meal, or hunt for a fresh meal. I couldn't get Maia to sample the water at all. Meadow stuck her front feet in, sniffed, then left.

Who knows what scents they picked up and preferred to leave behind?

To me, it was simply a gorgeous bit of nature.
