Another Red-tailed Hawk

I finally captured one with my own camera!

Driving home from our walk (previous post), just after turning onto our road, we passed this Red-tailed hawk sitting on a fence post, surveying his domain.

I drove right by it before remembering I had my camera. I turned around, drove back to within about 50 feet, then got out of the car. I was afraid to walk too close, not wanting to spook it, so took this shot using full telephoto setting. It was snowing hard - brief snow squals had been moving through the valley all morning.

The hawk didn't seem too concerned about me. I took three other photos, and was going to attempt to move closer, when another car started up the lane. Apparently, that amount of human activity was more than the hawk wanted to tolerate. He flew away.
